Eramussport MTÜ held their Simple Session competition celebrating 20 year anniversary of the iconic skateboarding & BMX festival on February 8th to 9th, 2020. The event took place at amazing Saku arena in Tallinn, Estonia. Here is the follow up and some cool picks from their NFE volunteer training.
We had an amazing Simple Session weekend! All the volunteers were exceptional and we're glad they were with us. On our first training day we had a chance to get to know each other and Mario introduced our 5 volunteers to Simple Session's history. We prepared a detailed description of our „Urban Sport and Culture Volunteers“ project co-funded by the Erasmus+ Sport programme of the European Union and presented other partners in the project. Our volunteers then got a chance to learn more about involving sponsors which is essential for closing the financial aspect of organizing an extreme sports event. After the break we took a detailed tour at Saku Arena with our volunteers. At the arena changing room William explained the importance of social media in promoting sport events and shared some basic knowledge about Facebook and Instagram. Piret Kull finished our day one training by sharing some tricks we use in marketing as well as some of the best practices Simple Session uses in dealing with media. On the second day volunteers met up with their group leaders and were briefed of the specific tasks they were supposed to do during the event. We started our volunteering session at 11am and finished in the late evening around 9pm. On our last day we had a follow up with our volunteers to check how their first day went and afterwards entered into the final volunteering day which ended by presenting the volunteers with their Youthpass. We are looking forward to next year's NFE training when we intend to bring closer the event management structure to volunteers.
In the following months the rest of us are preparing to implement NFE trainings for volunteers at the events to come; Pannonian Challenge, Baltic Games, Urbano Dejanje and Extreme Style.
